It all depends on you
Life has
been very hectic and I have gone through a lot in the last few months. Life is
tough and it has taught me, no matter who you are and where you stand, you
can’t control your own life, you are just a mere puppet in God’s hands.
It has
been long since I spend time with myself due to life’s hectic schedule, so I
decided to take a day off and spend as much as time as possible with myself so
I decided to go out somewhere where no one would be there, so I could be
myself. I’m tired of wearing of those masks which I’m forced to.
I decided
to go for a long drive in my bike. I got up around 4.30 in the morning and packed
all my stuff and got ready and hit the road. I checked in at the near-by petrol
station and then there was no stopping me. I thought that I was going to take
this epic journey of happiness.
I rode my
bike as fast as possible; the speedometer clocked 145kmph that was my new
record breaking my previous best of 138.The roads were absolutely dead and the
fresh air from the trees on both ends of the road made it so fascinating and
nostalgic. I thought that everything was going perfectly as I planned and I was
screaming my throat out of joy. I threw my hands up in the air and began to
scream even louder. I thought that God had made this day for me but suddenly I heard a huge thunder sound. My excitement ceased off instantaneously, I
thought that rain would spoil my entire journey of happiness.
I halted
under a tree as it had started drizzling. Far away from me, I saw a small girl
sitting outside her house. I wondered what made that girl to sit outside while
it was about to rain heavily. Since I could not see properly I wasn’t sure what
that girl was doing but she sat still and it seemed as if she was waiting for
someone.
The rain
began to pour heavily, though I was standing beneath a tree I got completely
drenched. I hated this sudden downpour which spoiled my entire happiness and to
make things worse I was completely wet. I closed my eyes and began to think of
all the fun I must have had if this rain hadn’t interrupted me.
Huge cheer
followed by laughter made me to end my day dream and look in the direction from
where the sound came. There were about 20 children playing but I was not able
to see clearly so went towards them and was frozen by what I saw.
Everyone
were playing cricket. An old tree was their stumps, a writing pat was their bat
and a coconut shell was their ball. I remembered how I used to play but these
kids were different. They were playing in the heavy rain and were having lot of
fun. They were happy which was evident from their eyes. Now I knew what that
girl was waiting for. It was the rain which brought them together and provided
happiness which I thought ruined my happiness.
Now I
understood what happiness is all about and importantly what life is all about.
Happiness is not when you have everything perfectly but it comes from those small
imperfections. Happiness is not about regretting what you don’t have but
enjoying what you have.
I looked
up and whispered “Thank you God”.I ran towards those children and asked them if
I could join , they agreed without a second thought.
It all depends on you.
